Help

Short walkthroughs of the things people ask about most. If you can’t find what you’re after, check the FAQ or email support@kinswell.nz.

Getting started in five minutes

  1. Create the household. Sign up, give it a name (e.g. “Mum’s House”), and add an address so carers know where they’re going.
  2. Add daily tasks. Go to Tasks and add the things carers should do: meals, hygiene, walks. Tag each with a time window (morning / midday / evening) and how often it should happen.
  3. Add medications. On Medications, list each med with its dosage, times, and any instructions (“take with food”). Set a stock count if you want low-stock warnings.
  4. Print the QR code. The QR Code page generates a printable sheet for the kitchen or fridge. Carers scan this to start every visit.
  5. Invite family. On Manage → Members, send invite codes to anyone who should see what’s happening. They don’t need to be tech-savvy.

How carers use it

Carers don’t install anything and don’t need an account. They:

  1. Scan the QR code with their phone camera.
  2. If you set a PIN, enter it. Otherwise they go straight to the next step.
  3. Pick their name from a list (or add it the first time).
  4. Choose the type of visit: personal care, home help, other.
  5. Tick off tasks and meds as they go, leave notes or photos.
  6. Tap End visit when they’re done.

Anything they typed in a note or marked as done is saved automatically when they end the visit, even if they forgot to hit Save.

The medication PIN

An optional second PIN that gates medication names and dosages on the carer checklist. Tasks, notes, and photos stay accessible without it. Useful if some of your carers (e.g. home help) are not medication-trained and shouldn’t see drug details. Set it on Manage → Medication PIN. Pick a different number from the regular carer PIN.

Pinned messages and handover notes

On Messages, leave a pinned note (“Always use the back door”) that every carer sees, or a temporary one that expires after a chosen date. Notes left by one carer also surface for the next one, so handover happens automatically without phone calls or notebooks.

Family members and roles

  • Admin: full access; can change tasks, meds, PINs, settings, and invite or remove members.
  • Member: can see everything and leave messages, but can’t change household settings.
  • Viewer: read-only. Good for an extended family member who just wants to know what’s going on.

Manage roles and invites under Manage → Members.

Printing the medication schedule

On Medications, click Print schedule to open a clean, paper-ready view of the active schedule grouped by morning, midday, and evening. Use your browser’s print dialog to send it to a printer or save it as a PDF, handy for a GP or pharmacist appointment.

For care providers

If your subscription covers more than one household, the Provider tab shows a roll-up across every client you look after: recent visits, alerts, and quick switching between households. Each client still gets their own QR code, tasks, meds, and family members.

Billing and trial

All plans include a 1 month free trial, no card up front. After the trial you can pay by card or, in some regions, by manual bank transfer. Manage your subscription on My account. You can cancel any time; your data stays until the end of the paid period.
